When it comes to graduations, parents are usually found cheering in the stands. But at Gulf Coast State College's Commencement Ceremony on Friday Melissa Marvin and her two daughters, Heather and Sydney found themselves crossing the stage at the same time.
"I started Gulf Coast 7 years ago and I've been working through it a little bit at a time one here two there then my daughter Sydney started her college career and Heather started hers and last fall I think is when we finally figured out that the 3 of us would be finished together and be able to do this."
The girls look at the mother as an inspiration and have more goals that they would like to achieve. "I would really like to be an executive pastry chef and work with some of the world's great chefs," daughter, Sydney said.
In addition, Melissa's other daughter Heather is enlisting in the Navy and would one day like to receive a bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology. Over 1300 students graduated from Gulf Coast State College on Friday.
