Bay Medical-Sacred Heart has hired a new chief executive officer. Barry Keel will take over the hospital's top job on May 17, according to a newsletter sent to all Bay Med employees.
Keel most recently served as the Alabama market CEO for Health Management Associates where he had responsibility for two hospitals totaling more than 400 patient beds. In addition, he has held several other executive-level hospital management positions during his career.
According to the newsletter article, Keel has a Master of Science degree in Health Policy and Administration from Mercer University in Atlanta and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration from Auburn University.
Keel replaces Steve Johnson, who resigned in January 2013 to pursue health care consulting opportunities. He will be introduced to Bay Medical-Sacred Heart employees during a cookout on his first day on the job.
