National Nurses Week is being celebrating across the panhandle and the United States from May 6th to May 12th. Nurses at Bay Medical Center will be receiving recognition and special treats for their hard work and contributions to helping patients.
Although being a nurse can be tough with the long hours, many of the nurses at Bay Medical Center say it's a rewarding job. "People are struggling and you know are sick and at their lowest at times and to be able to help see them through and get them to the other side and to be able to see them cross the finish line so to speak is an exciting part of my day," Registered Nurse, Stephanie Hogberg said.
"It's very rewarding knowing that sometimes what you do can make such a difference in that patient's life," Director Emergency Department, MICU, SICU, Patricia Scott said.
In addition to National Nurses Week, the American Nurses Association also recognizes student nurses during the week of National Nurses Week.
