Did you know that the Panhandle boasts one of Florida's best authors? Michael Lister grew up in Wewahitcka, came back after college as a prison chaplain, and then started writing books. He's written everything from mystery novels, to fiction about Panama City in the 1940s, to spiritual novels about God.
He recently won the Florida Book Award for the second time. 'Blood Sacrifice' takes place in the Panhandle and has an environmental theme. In 2009, 'Double Exposure' which is more of a thriller is set in the swamp, close to the Apalachicola River also won the statewide award.
Lister says he is a diverse writer, but hopes that his style runs through all of his literary works. Lister has also sold one of his books as a screenplay, it will soon become a movie based and filmed right here in the panhandle.
