The Walton County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Highway Patrol are working a serious accident on Highway 331 in the area of Rock Hill Road.
Traffic is being diverted from the area. Northbound traffic is being re-routed from Highway 331 to Highway 20 and up Highway 81. Southbound traffic is being sent down Rock Hill Road to Highway 81. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible and heavy delays are expected.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the minimum estimated time for Highway 331 to be closed is 2 hours. There were two patients who were injured and flown out by helicopters.
Message boards are being placed on the highways at this time advising of alternate routes until the road has been opened up. Signs will be advising those traveling south on Highway 331 to take I-10 eastbound to Highway 81 South instead of routing through Rock Hill Road. Those headed north on Highway 331 will take Highway 20 to Highway 81 North.
