Sunny Hills Designer Passes Away

Posted: Updated:

Ken Venturi, one of two designers who developed Sunny Hills Golf Club, passed away Friday in California. Venturi designed the front nine of the course, with fellow golfer Gene Sarazen designing the back nine.

Venturi approached Sarazen in the early 70's about designing a golf course in Northwest Florida, and Sunny Hills was the product- the only course in Florida deigned by the two. Venturi won the 1964 US Open, his only Major win, but was a longtime commentator for the sport.
