Arrest Warrant in Gulf County Uncovers Large Marijuana Operation

Posted: Updated:

Gulf County Sheriff Mike Harrison announces the arrest of Utria Yoendry Pagan (28) of Overstreet.

On May 25, 2013, while searching for a wanted person at 277 Sunshine Road, in the Overstreet area, Sergeant Richard Burkett and Deputy Shane Ferrell discovered an indoor marijuana grow.

The deputies were given consent to search the residence for the wanted person when they discovered a room being used to grow marijuana.

Gulf County Investigators were notified and subsequently procured a search warrant for the residence.

The search of the residence revealed an elaborate marijuana growing operation.  Twenty-five ten-gallon containers with marijuana plants were seized, along with electrical supplies used to provide the indoor lighting to grow the marijuana.

It appeared the operation was in its early stages and construction was still in progress.  In a separate room from where the marijuana was growing, an indoor irrigation system to supply water for the marijuana plants was discovered.

If the marijuana had reached maturity, it would have had a potential street value of approximately $10,000.00.

Pagan was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana and is being held in the Gulf County Detention Facility on a $25,000.00 bond.  This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
