Alabama Man Drowns on Panama City Beach

The victim of a near drowning has died, according to Panama City Beach Police.

The incident occurred late Thursday afternoon at the Legacy by the Sea Hotel, 15325 Front Beach Road.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Ahmed Ishmir Lewis, of Mobile, Ala., was given CPR by police officers before EMS arrived and transported him to Gulf Coast Medical Center, Panama City Beach Police said.

At the time of the incident, authorities say the surf conditions were rough and the Surf Flag Warning System was flying a single red flag.


The Panama City Beach Police Department is investigating a near-drowning.

It happened late Thursday afternoon at Legacy by the Sea at 15325 Front Beach Road.

Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman says the man was transported to the hospital and CPR was in progress.

His name is not being released until his family has been notified. His condition at this time is unknown.
