After a change of location and months of planning, construction of Bay County's newest charter school is officially underway.
A ceremonial groundbreaking was held Saturday morning at the new home of North Bay Haven Charter Academy off State Road 390 in Lynn Haven. The Bay Haven community sang, took photos, and checked out the property next to Mill Bayou.
Doctor Tim Kitts says the new location will lead to new opportunities. "We're going to be able to do great things with fish and wildlife in order to have restoration projects, in order to have biology projects. Tremendous things are going on here that we are so excited about," said Kitts.
The academy will be built in several phases as funding becomes available. Middle and high schoolers will likely move into their classrooms for Fall 2014.
