Chipola River Bridge Project to Start Monday

Posted: Updated:

Construction begins the week of June 10, 2013 on the State Road (S.R.) 20 Chipola River Bridge west of Blountstown.  The project consists of replacing the antiquated bridge over the Chipola River with a new two lane bridge.  Traffic will continue to use the current bridge as crews construct the new structure directly adjacent and the speed limit will be reduced in the construction zone.  Work is scheduled to be complete fall 2014.

FDOT recognizes the Chipola River Paddling Trail as a well-known recreational use facility for paddling and boating.  During construction temporary delays may occur near the bridge and notification will be provided.

All transportation activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to pay attention and use caution when driving through the work zone. For more Florida Department of Transportation District Three information follow us on twitter @MyFDOT_NWFL.
