Chief Drew Whitman with the Panama City Beach Police Department says they pulled four people from the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday afternoon.
Double red flags began flying at 3:51 p.m. Earlier Tuesday they were single red.
One person was transported to the hospital by ambulance from the Days Inn. Beach Police says he died at the hospital. His name has not been released. Another was taken by ambulance from behind the Sunbird.
Two others were pulled from the water near the Flamingo but they were treated by EMS on scene and did not require additional medical attention.
Lt. Baldwin with the Bay County Sheriff's Office says he assisted with at least a dozen water calls Tuesday.
Monday a deputy and the person he rescued were hospitalized after a water distress call. During the double red flag conditions, the Bay County Sheriff's Office and Panama City Beach Police responded to more than 50 water calls.
