On Saturday, two local teams- the 10U and 11U Panama City Beach Bashers -captured Grand Slam World Series Session I titles. Sunday, over 140 teams from 19 different states started their journey to a World Series Championship, and Grand Slam baseball had some fun before competition starts Monday by throwing a parade. Grand Slam owner Larry Thompson says it's no mystery why teams come back year after year to play ball.
"That's a pretty simple question because Panama City Beach, Florida and the world's most beautiful beaches and Grand Slam sports baseball is a win win situation," said Thompson Sunday. "Why would anyone not want to come to PCB? You know, you put those two together, baseball and the beach, and you're going to win everyday of the week."
World Series Session II starts Monday with pool play games, with double elimination play starting on Wednesday. Session II wraps up on Saturday.
