Lift Station Fails, Sewage Discharged Into Grand Lagoon

Posted: Updated:

Due to the large amount of rainfall, the lift station near the intersection of Joan Avenue and North Lagoon Drive, Panama City Beach, has overflowed causing a discharge of untreated sewage into the waters of Grand Lagoon.

Sewage contamination of water can expose bathers to intestinal viruses, bacteria, and parasites.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County advises against swimming in Grand Lagoon between Joan Ave and Thomas Drive until further notice.
