A Back Up Plan for Fourth of July; Escaping Mother Nature

The fireworks are prepped and ready to go for the big show in Panama City, but if you are anything like Michael Johnson you weren't preparing for the precipitation.

"Didn't really put that much thought into it," said Johnson. "We thought it might rain, but didn't know it was going to rain this much."

But Johnson and his wife had a back up plan for the rain that is set to continue through Friday.

"Some in and taste wine have a good time and be dry," said Lynn Webb, the owner of Seabreeze Winery.

The only working winery on Panama City Beach provided customers like Johnson shelter on Wednesday.

"I think it's a good place to come and taste some good wine get out of the rain for a minute," said Johnson.

"It's a good spot kind of centrally located on Hutchinson so you can get here from any area on the beach," said Julie Hyder, a Panama City Beach Blogger.

Her blog www.PCBonadime.blogspot.com gives tips to residents and vacationers on what's worth visiting.

"Just find fun things to do on the beach other than the beach," said Hyder.

Hyder says there's no reason to let mother nature keep you indoors.

"No definitely not, there are plenty of things to do here and you can always get out and explore into town and into St. Andrews," said Hyder. "There are lots and lots of places to go and great good and lots of fun activities for everybody."

Hyder's blog suggests places like Wonderworks and the Grande Theatre at Pier Park.

"We have our top 27 things to do from the Ripleys all the way down to manis, pedis, and massages," said Hyder.

"Does it put a damper on your plans?"

"Not at all," said Johnson. "It comes and goes and as far as the beach goes we come and go."

"If it gets wet go up to the room, maybe eat, maybe visit the local winery."
