Last year, the Louisville Cardinals capped off their 11-2 season with a BCS Bowl win over Florida in the Sugar Bowl, and Port St. Joe grad Calvin Pryor was a big reason for the Cardinals success. Now, a lot of hype surrounds him as Pryor enters his Junior season.
Monday morning, the Maxwell Foundation announced it's watch list for both the Maxwell and Bednarik Award, the latter which goes to the nation's best defensive player. Pryor, a safety for the Cardinals, earned 2nd team All Big East honors last season, and was second for the Cardinals in tackles with a career high 100 in 13 starts.
Pryor forced five fumbles last season, which ranked seventh nationally, and had seven games with eight or more tackles. Pryor and the Cardinals open their season Sunday, September 1st at home against Ohio.
