Big Nascar news out of Lynn Haven, Phoenix Racing has been sold.
24 years ago Phoenix Race Team Owner James Finch and the Phoenix racing team hit the track for their first Nascar race as Jeff Purvis drove for Finch at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Finch has been talking a lot about selling the team over the last six months due to lack of sponsorship and the cost of running not only one Sprint Cup car, but a Nationwide car as well.
Mr. Finch confirmed the sale on the phone Wednesday and said he was unable to release which team has purchased both the #1 Nationwide car and #51 Sprint Cup car. He said that team will be holding a press conference either Friday or Monday to confirm their purchase.
" You know I've just got the opportunity to sell and sell my stuff and I'm going to help them get started and you know I might dabble in it a little bit here and there but no more full-time stuff for me this is about 790 starts in NASCAR and that's a lot of weekends", Finch said.
Finch also said the new team will keep the numbers and the points that Phoenix Racing has built throughout the year.
