From the garden spot to the flower pot, our state's name actually came from the Latin word "Flora", and an exhibit at the Bay County Public Library celebrates these wonders of nature.
Its part of project called Flora500. Scientists have selected 500 varieties unique to the sunshine state to commemorate Florida's quincentennial.
Each artist created original works using wild flowers that grow in their area.
The Flora500 exhibit runs through the end of this month, and there's no charge for admission.
