A Georgia driver was killed and his passenger suffered serious injuries in a Friday night traffic crash in Gulf County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, three vehicles and a house were damaged after Glenn Steven Tompkins' car spun out of control. Troopers responded to the scene on U.S. Highway 98, west of Pineda Street, at 10:57 p.m.
The FHP said Tompkins, 31, was westbound on U.S. Highway 98 when his 1995 Lexus LS400 went into a spin and collided with two palm trees. The card then hit a parked GMC Yukon, sending it into a support post of a house on stilts. Debris from the crash shattered windows in two other cars, the FHP said.
Tompkins was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Lexus, Christopher Watkins, 21, was transported Bay Medical-Sacred Heart Hospital.
