A rip tide is blamed for a Saturday afternoon water emergency at Shell Island.
A 12 year old girl was rushed to the Panama City Marina on board a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat and then transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
According to FFWCC spokesman Stan Kirkland, the girl got caught in a rip tide on the gulf side of the island around 3:00 p.m. Authorities responded after her parents called 911.
The girl, whose identity was not released, was alert upon arrival at the marina. Her condition is not known at this time.
