Former Auburn University Basketball Player Latest PCB Drowning Victim

Police have confirmed that a former Auburn University basketball player drowned off Panama City Beach during double red flag surf conditions Saturday.

According to PCBPD Chief Drew Whitman, the body of Korvotney Barber washed ashore Sunday between the Boardwalk Condominiums and Top of the Gulf Condominiums and was recovered at 3:49 p.m.

Barber, 26, had been the target of an intensive search since he and two companions were reported missing Saturday night after entering the water behind Pineapple Willy's.  When officers arrived on scene, only Barber had not returned to shore.

Beach police were assisted in the search by the U. S. Coast Guard, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Bay County Sheriff's Office "Air One" helicopter.

Barber was a Georgia resident.  He played for Auburn from 2005-09 and was a second team all-SEC selection in 2009.

PCBPD turned the body over to the 14th Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
