On Sunday, junior college basketball players from across the Panhandle got a chance to showcase their skills in front of sixty NCAA coaches from across the country. The Chipola Indians represented well, bringing eleven players to Gulf Coast for the showcase, two of which were First Team All-Panhandle Conference selections last season.
Chipola head coach Patrick Blake is entering his second year at the helm of the Indians, and says with a core group of returning players, he's excited to see what his guys can do.
"This is my second year and I feel a lot more comfortable," he said. "We have six guys coming back, so I think with that experience, we'll be ready to have a good year. I'm going to be a lot better in my second year as a head coach, and I feel like the freshman we have coming back have that year of experience, they're going to be a lot better. I feel like it's going to be a smoother transition, and hopefully a fun year for us and our fans."
The Indians are building off a 26-5 season, one that saw them finish as Panhandle Conference runner-ups.
