There are one hundred twenty eight days left in this year's Atlantic hurricane season. So far News 13 has not had to report on any tropical events so far this year but as we all know that can change quickly. This Saturday Home Depot hosted a Hurricane Preparedness Workshop where the folks in orange shared ways to protect your home before, during and after a hurricane. Place generators 20ft from your home to create a healthy distance from the carbon dioxide that is released. Never attach a generator to the house power supply because it will backfill power lines and give utility crews an electric shock when trying to turn your lights back on. When windows blow out, your roof is likely to go next. The workshop urges people to invest in steel or durable plastic storm shutters. If you're riding out the hurricane be sure to have a weather radio, walkie-talkies and first aid supplies.
