In Port Saint Joe one of the stars of the local seafood industry is in the spotlight.
The 17th annual "Florida Scallop and Music Festival" is officially underway.
It kicked off Saturday morning with "The Race for the Scallops" 5 & 10k runs.
But this is just the start. This event is put on each year by the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce, and Tourist Development Council.
It showcases the community and provides a huge boost to the economy.
The main festival is set for August 2nd and 3rd, and includes a classic car show, duck derby race a variety of music acts, and of course, plenty of scallops will be on the menu.
All events will be held at George Core Park in Port Saint Joe.
