The Humane Society of Bay County made the official announcement Sunday: renovations are set to begin at the Igloo.
For those of you not familiar with the iconic structure, the building was home to the Humane Society until four years ago when high utility costs forced them to close their doors.
Officials say a lot of renovations are needed to reopen the building, but once those are in place. The 11,000 square foot structure will double the number of animals the society can care for. The igloo will also be home to the low cost Spay and Neuter Clinic coming to Bay County.
Operation Spay Bay plans to reopen the project January 2014.
