Hammerhead Shark Spotted at St. Andrews State Park

Posted: Updated:

Swimmers at St. Andrews State Park got an unexpected surprise Sunday afternoon. A seven and a half foot hammerhead was swimming near the shore at the parks kiddie pool around 2:00 Sunday afternoon.

Kathy Hunt of Lynn Haven captured photos of the shark and told News13 the shark looked like he was looking for a way out and was thrashing around the closer it got to the shoreline.

Park Service employees tried to get the shark to go back out into the pass, but unfortunately the shark died shortly after 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
