The Gulf Coast Volleyball team took the floor on Saturday against former Lady Commodores, as the squad held their inaugural Alumni game. There are nine freshman on this year's roster, and several got significant playing time on Saturday.
Head Coach Kyle Peck said it was nice to see some old faces on the floor, and that volleyball's a unique sport, because even after college, it's possible to keep playing.
"Some of the other sports, you can't really do that," he said. "It's a nice chance to see some of the old players again. Some of them played here before my time, but I've known them over the years throughout the volleyball community. Hopefully we'll have an even bigger turnout next year, and some of the older alumni can sub in and out. I know some of them are sweating pretty hard right now, but it's just a fun day to play against somebody."
Peck said he hoped to make today's Alumni game an annual event. The current Lady Commodores open up the regular season on Friday, August 23rd.
