Girl Scouts Honor Women of Distinction

The Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle honored 20 special women Friday evening.

The Council of the Florida Panhandle held it's annual Women of Distinction Awards Gala to recognize women who have made a difference in their work and in the community.

The event included a silent auction, dinner, and awards. It gave young girls a chance to meet these inspiring women.

"We'd like to see them get back with Girl Scouts, and we'd like to make sure that the young girls have women they can look up to and they can reach out to as they try to become contributors to the community," said Donna Pilson, with the Gala Committee.

The Pearl Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dot Nelson. The Diamond Award went to former Lynn Haven Mayor Sharon Sheffield.

News 13's Jessica Foster co-hosted the event. News 13 would like to congratulate all of the Women of Distinction.
