All eyes were on the college scene Thursday night, but on Friday, high school football returns to the gridiron as week one gets underway.
The Bay High Tornadoes were on the road last week for their kick-off classic, when they headed west to take on reigning Class 1A State Champion Northview. The Tornadoes tied the Chiefs in the classic, but are looking to open up the regular season with a win as they welcome in Class 4A Marianna.
Bay High Head Coach Jimmy Longerbeam said Thursday that the team has had a good week of practice, and they're ready to open up the season on their home turf.
"We made some mistakes but everything is correctable," he said at practice. "It was just some things we need to do to fine tune. I thought our kids played hard, and played with a lot of enthusiasm which was a big thing. The kids have been great. They've had a great summer and a great spring, and it's carried over. It's a really good group of kids, and I think they're ready to go."
Friday night's match-up between the Bulldogs and the Tornadoes kicks off at 7:00/CT at Tommy Oliver Stadium.
