Lt Frye has been active in training dogs for over 15 years and involved in Search and Rescue for 8 years. Lt Frye's working K9's Ty and Mako are nationally certified thru both the National Organization Certifying Search and Rescue and the National Association of Search and Rescue .

K9 Ty is a dual certified Human Remains Detection dog and a Live Find Area Search dog with more than 40 missions completed. K9 Mako is a tracking dog with 9 missions. Lt Frye is, also, certified as SAR Tech II with NASAR.

Both K9's have been trained to indicate articles with human scent. This enables them to assist Law Enforcement in evidence searches. Lt Schofield recently joined the Bay County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team and is training with their K9 team.  C/2nd Lt Agosto is a frequent volunteer with the BCSAR team acting as a "missing person" for the team practice sessions. He is also a qualified search and rescue ground team member that just came back from an extensive nine day search and rescue school in Hawk Mountain, Pa.

For these exercises, Lt Frye's dogs were used to assist in determining the direction of travel of the missing individuals narrowing the search area and reducing the amount of time required to locate the missing subjects. Cadets and senior members served as flankers and safety personnel for the K9 team during the searches as well as ground team searchers.

This combination of search personnel significantly increases the probability of a successful outcome on a search mission.
