The Florida State women's soccer team came into the season ranked 3rd in the Nation, their highest preseason ranking in school history, and on Sunday, an Arnold High School graduate helped the ladies stay on top in a thrilling way.
Former Lady Marlin Kirsten Crowley scored the game winning goal as Florida State beat UCF in overtime. Crowley, a redshirt freshman, scored the goal in the 96th minute to left the Noles to the victory. The win kept FSU undefeated on the year, and kept a 21 game home win streak intact.
Crowley said after the game she's just glad she was in the right place at the right time.
"I was like, did this just happen?! I was like, actually I was like, it's over," she said. "Finally, no more overtime, we can rest now, it's over. All they were saying the whole time was it only takes one, on both ends, it only takes that one chance. It's about being where you're supposed to be on the set plays and we made it count."
Crowley is a former News 13 Scholar Athlete of the Week, and she and the Noles return to action Friday night when they host Oklahoma State.
