Posted: Updated:

A spokesperson for Bay District Schools confirms that Daniel Patrick Holmes, arrested on two counts of child abuse, was Band Director at Surfside Middle School. Holmes, 33, is charged with causing injuries to his own child that required medical treatment.

According to Karen Tucker, BDS Public Information Officer, Superintendent Bill Husfelt will meet with Holmes early next week to decide whether to suspend him with pay pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.

"He will not be at school on Monday," Tucker said.

The Panama City Beach Police Department says on September Daniel Patrick Holmes, 33, from Panama City Beach, FL was arrested on two counts of Child Abuse.

These charges stem from an investigation with the Florida Department of Children and Family Services reported Mr. Holmes possibly had caused injury to his minor child which required medical treatment.

Based on a mutual investigation it was learned on at least two separate occasions Holmes did cause injuries to his child requiring medical treatment.

Holmes was arrested without incident at his residence and booked at the Bay County Jail.
