On Saturday, Bay County youth hit the gridiron for the first time, as the Gulf Coast Youth Football Association took over Pete Edwards Field for their annual preseason jamboree.
All five branches of the GCYFA, and all four divisions boasting 700 kids, were in action at some point on Saturday.
President Ty Steele was impressed with the turnout, and says the organization continues to get bigger every year.
"We have different football leagues that have come to the league but we are still well supported," he said on Saturday. "Everybody is still coming up and showing out. All our kids that play here are playing on Friday nights in high school. That's our main goal is to teach them football, teach them cheer, get them ready for the next level, and see them go further."
The 2013 GCYFA season officially kicks off on Monday September 9th.
