On Sunday, September 8, Deputies with the Walton County Sheriff's Office say they responded to a domestic violence call that took place between a mother and her son.
The call came into the Sheriff's Office Dispatch shortly after 2:30 pm and the caller stated her son was hitting and kicking her while she was driving on Hwy 98.
Deputies made contact with the caller and her son, David M Ratcliff, 34, from 7964 Dovie Lane, Fermantown, TN, on Holiday Road in Miramar Beach.
During the course of the investigation, Ratcliff intentionally hit a deputy by striking the deputy in the neck.
Ratcliff was charged with Domestic Violence Battery and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
