The Florida Department of Transportation announces their five year plan and Jackson County has nearly fifty projects on the list!
Construction crews will begin work as early as 2015 and also plans detail work that go through 2018. Some projects include a 15 mile resurfacing project from highway 69 to north of highway 90 to highway 71 in grand ridge. Turn lanes will be added at the intersection of highway 71 and Blue Springs road near the entrance to Blue Springs Park. Also on the five year plan a resurfacing project on HWY 231 from Mill road to North of Brock Road in Alford near I-10.
Florida Department of Transportation Inspector, Tom Carpenter, says these projects benefit tax payers, "They provide the measurements, elevation so they can provide the cost on each project and ensure that the tax payers are getting what they are paying for and that the proper materials are used for the longest lifespan possible."
Funding for the projects comes from state and federal transportation dollars.
