A DeFuniak Springs man is charged with animal cruelty.
According to the Walton County Sheriff's Office, Shawn David Ball, 22, was charged after investigators discovered a cat that had been brutally injured on September 5th. The cat, named "Pablo", had multiple contusions, hemorrhages, broken ribs, had been burned on his face causing deformity to one ear as well as burned on the body and genitals.
Pablo was found dead later in the day inside a little box in the house.
Ball was also charged with resisting arrest after running from officers.

Today, Investigators with the Walton County Sheriff's Office executed a probable cause arrest for Shawn David Ball, 22, of 206 Bob McCaskill Drive, Defuniak Springs, for animal cruelty. Investigators made contact with Ball at his residence and was asked to step outside. Ball immediately retreated back into the house and fled on foot out the back door. Additional law enforcement officers responded to the scene, a perimeter was set up and a K9 track was started. Approximately three hours later, Ball was apprehended. On September 5th, 2013, Ball brutally beat a feline cat named "Pablo" with his hands, causing multiple contusions, hemorrhages and broken ribs. Ball also burned Pablo's face, leaving his right ear deformed, as well as the body and genitals with an unknown heat source. Investigators responded to the residence the same day and found Pablo deceased in a litter box inside the residence. Upon further investigation, blood and cat hair was observed on the bed sheets. The evidence was collected which lead to Ball's arrest.
Ball will also be charged with resisting an officer without violence.
