Recent heavy rainfall is taking a toll on two Panama City Beach businesses. The area has received more than three feet of rain since July.
Now, nearly two parking spaces in their small shared lot have collapsed.
It started out like a typical Wednesday morning at the Indulgence Salon off Middle Beach Road. However, Salon Manager Lindsey Elmore said it was like no other.
"We all got to work in the morning. We were getting ready to open the door for one of our clients," said Elmore. "I think she's got a flat tire. I look and then I think she is in the bushes, only to realize the whole front of her car is in a hole."
Nearly half of the parking lot in front of ALS Computers, Inc. and Indulgence Salon collapsed around eight in the morning.
"There was a failure in the storm drain during all the recent heavy rainfall," said Panama City Beach Public Works Director Paul Costo.
The owners of the property are working with their insurance agency to quickly repair the parking lot, while Department of Transportation Officials said they'll repair the nearby sidewalk and drain issue.
