A well-known community leader is injured in a horse-show accident in Tennessee.
Martha "Sister" Blackmon, founder of the Gulf Coast Charity Horse show on Panama City Beach, was injured this afternoon practicing for a show in Shelbyville, TN.
According to a family friend Todd Fisher, Blackmon was practicing in an indoor arena for a show Saturday night in Cleveland, TN when the horse she was riding on made a sudden turn. Blackmon's foot was caught in the stirrup of the saddle and she was thrown to the ground.
Blackmon was being treated this afternoon at Heritage Medical Center in Shelbyville for a fractured pelvis. She will be flown by air ambulance back to Panama City on Monday.
