Northwest Florida Coach Frank Sorrells is going to have a busy week from September 27th through October 5th.  He is being recognized for 3 awards for his playing and coaching career.

On Friday, September 27, Niceville High School is recognizing him for his 22 years as Head Football coach and Athletic Director at the school from 1979 through 2000. During that time Coach Sorrells won 169 games, many district and regional titles and won the only State Championship in football (1988) in school history. He is also the winningest coach at Niceville and Okaloosa county football. A brunch featuring all his players is scheduled before the Homecoming game and Coach Sorrells will be given special recognition at halftime.

The following day Coach Sorrells will fly to Broadway High School, (Broadway, Virginia), his alma mater, and will attend a formal banquet in which he will be put into Broadway High School's Hall of Fame as a player. He played 4 sports for the school, (football, basketball, track, and baseball) and received All-State recognition. He still holds several records at Broadway High in football.

The following weekend, October 4th and 5th, he will attend Ferrum (Va.) College's celebration  of 100 years for the college. Coach Sorrells will be inducted into Ferrum's Football Hall of Fame. He was a member of the school's first National Championship Football Team (1965-66).  Coach Sorrells was an All American running back on that team. He also was a kick returner and played defensive back. Ferrum has won 4 National Championships under Virginia Hall of Fame Coach Hank Norton.

Ironically, all of these events come in one calendar week. Coach Sorrells now resides in Lynn Haven, Florida (Panama City). He has 220 varsity football wins and is currently in the top 30 of all time wins for coaches in the state of Florida.
