Beach Care Services hosted its 8th Annual Duck Race and Cocktail Party Tuesday night at the Grand Panama Beach Resort in Panama City Beach.
It's a fundraiser unlike any other. Men and women from various organizations and businesses in Bay County hopped on some extra large, inflatable ducks to "quack" everyone up. Each team races across the resort's pool on an inflatable duck.
News 13's Kelsey Peck and Caitlin Lawrence represented WMBB-TV and found out the duck race is a lot harder than it looks.
While the race is a lot of fun for competitors and guests, the event raises money for the non-profit organization. Beach Care Services helps about 900 families in Panama City Beach pay bills, fill prescriptions, and get back on their feet.
"It touches my heart because it shows the community, the businesses, the locals, we even have tourists up here that want to give back and show support. It's locals helping locals. That means so much to all of us and the Board of Directors," said Debi Knight, the organization's Development Coordinator.
Multiple businesses and restaurants donated food and goodies for the event. It's the largest fundraiser for Beach Care Services during the year.
