In only three months residents in the city of Marianna will have the opportunity to stop receiving pesky bills from the city, in the mail. Instead of having them delivered by mail trucks you could receive them virtually.
Instead of forking over cash for your bills at City Hall or mailing them in, residents will have the choice to receive and pay bills online. The City of Marianna is expecting to be live with online billing within the next three months. As for residents who prefer to mail in their bills or to pay in person, that option will still be available.
According to City Manager, Jim Dean, citizens have requested online billing for the past few years, "You know they call all the time wanting to know how they can get set up for that and we just haven't had that option. Now with new software package that we are using for billing and things like that, there is an enhancement now that we can upgrade and we can provide that service."
City Manager Dean is looking to begin advertising campaigns before the site is live in order to get the word out about the paperless billing process.
