The Bay County Economic Development Alliance set their goals for the New Year in their annual luncheon, Friday.
1500 is the magic number for jobs the EDA is hoping to bring in year 2014. They say they are following a recipe for success, which happens to be their theme this year.
Friday afternoon, EDA Director, Neil Wade kept it light in a video along with fellow familiar Bay County-ans, drawing on the cooking analogy to show similarities in economic development success.
Addressing the packed house, he said it takes all the right elements to create the best product. The most intriguing element for 2014, they feel, is the luring of the aerospace industry to bay county.
With Airbus coming to Mobile, Alabama next year, Wade says this area's access to an international airport and well as rail, port, and transit services makes Bay County an appealing location for this cutting edge industry to settle.
"We're going to take 40 business and elected leaders to Hamburg Germany in December, to help us focus on collecting suppliers from Airbus and other Aerospace companies in Europe to come into Northwest Florida. With that airport and with our site on 231, and with other sites in the county, we can really compete for suppliers," said Wade.
Wade said they have nearly exceeded their 2013 goal to bring 1300 new jobs to Bay County by December.
