The City of Panama City is looking for a new fire chief.
Chief Wayne Watts of the Panama City Fire Department submitted resignation letter to the city today, effective November 11.
Watts was named chief in 2012, taking over from Jerry Prater. He cited family reasons for his departure, saying it's become increasingly important he and his wife take care of their parents.
In his letter, Watts writes "the reasons for my decision are of personal nature and reflect no conflict with you or city administration."
The Panama City Fire Department consists of more than 80 firefighters and support staff. Watts declined to comment this afternoon.
Evangelist Franklin Graham prayed on a sidewalk outside the Pentagon Thursday after his invitation to a prayer service inside was withdrawn because of comments that insulted people of other religions. More>>
