On Saturday in Bay County, fifty teams of two from Central to North Florida qualified for this weekend's two day Championship, and on the final day, everyone weighing in to see who would take home cash and prizes.
The teams weighed in their two biggest Redfish on Friday, and on Saturday, doing the same. The winning team was decided by total combined weight of the four fish. This is the second year the Redfish Series has held the Championship in Panama City, and tournament director Kent Hickman says there's few places better to fish.
"First of all, it's great red fishing here," he said. "It's fairly protected with the bays and inland water. Any size boat is fine. Just really the fishing and the community. Everybody is really supportive, and several people have helped us out to get this done."
First place won $9,000, and that wining team? Sunset Grille, with anglers Martin Simmons and Keith McBride. Their two day total coming in at 23.02 pounds.
