It's been around since the mid 50's, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes. It is a student led organization on middle and high school campuses around the country. Here in the Panhandle, it's a ministry that continues to grow.
But it must follow certain guidelines because of the religious nature of the club, or what FCA calls, Huddles.
Panhandle FCA Representative Sean Aland says the organization is student motivated and led and only has adult teachers and coaches as supervisors. They group, christian based, must follow specific guidelines because of it's religious theme.
FCA students meet before, or after school and take part in many community public service projects. While most of the students are athletes, Aland says they don't have to be. Any one can join.
Thier big fundraising event is coming up on December 10th. Coach Bobby Bowden, retired from Florida State University will be the keynote speaker along with his son Tommy.
