Not all stories from World War II make it into the history books, but a Bay County journalist and author has written a book on a wartime subject that he feels the need to share with readers.
The book is "The Burning Shore". Author Ed Offley gives a narrative history of a pivotal phase of the Battle of the Atlantic and how a small band of Allied sailors defeated German U-boats in the early years of the war.
Offley says anyone who is interested in World War II naval history will find this a compelling story and feels the accounts of bravery and courage are worth telling again. "The Burning Shore" is scheduled for publication in March of 2014.
