Woman Convicted of Public Assistance Fraud

Posted: Updated:

A Bay County jury convicted Kalia Janell Bouie on Wednesday of public assistance fraud for claiming more than $12,000 in food stamps and Medicaid benefits when she wasn't entitled to them.

Assistant State Attorney Barbie Beasley showed jurors that Bouie, 30, of 1600 Florida Ave., E118, misrepresented her income between December 2008 and September 2011 to receive state assistance.

Bouie faces up to five years in prison when Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet sentences her Dec. 6.
