The sand is as white as snow and the holiday season has officially kicked off in Mexico Beach.
Citizens and visitors gathered in Sunset Park as the Harmon family, who are life-long residents of Mexico Beach, presided over the lighting of the city Christmas tree.
Afterwards, It was time for Christmas carols and a golf cart parade through the streets.
The parade ended with Santa clause atop a fire-truck, as he made his way to center square to pose for pictures with the kids
"I would like to see future young children enjoy it.. I think the older people enjoy it too," said Peggy Wood, who started the tree lighting celebrations in the early 1990's. "I think it's a nice thing for the town."
Bay County and the city of Panama City Beach have Christmas tree lighting ceremonies scheduled for later this week.
