It doesn't come as a surprise that the St. Joe company is the largest landowner in the state of Florida. But as a way to show their dedication to the Bay and Walton county areas the company is holding a series of open houses to talk about future plans.
The Bay-Walton sector plan is one that establishes a long term master blueprint for the area. Tuesday the open house was held at Bay County Library. Representatives of the St. Joe company were on hand to share information about the process and answer any questions.
Senior Vice President Jorge Gonzalez says the company is looking at a retirement and adult community in the future.
"It is a large plan so the active adult retirement component will just be a component of the plan," said Gonzalez. "There will be many other components of it: primary housing, seasonal housing, and we are still committed to economic development in and around the airport.
"So, the lands that we've allocated to economic development to bring industry and jobs into the community we are staying committed to those components also."
