The Gulf County Sheriff's Office is making a list and checking it twice.
Elves from many organizations around town are collecting toys in hopes to provide a magical Christmas to area children.
"We've got quite a depressed county," said Dr. Patricia Hardman, Coastal Community Association President. "We've got a lot of kids that need toys, it drive me crazy to think that kids will be without Santa Claus on Christmas morning."
The Sheriff's Department, the South Gulf County Fire Department and the Coastal Community Association are uniting to make sure everyone on the nice list has something to unwrap.
"The schools are providing us with lists of families that need assistance and we'll be able to get the gifts," said Gulf County Sheriff Mike Harrison.
With donations from the community, they are checking things off of the children's wish-lists. They accept unwrapped toy donations or, if you don't have time to shop, they take cash too.
"We'll do your Christmas shopping for you.. We'll be your elves," said Hardman.
Volunteers hope to even spread more cheer than the successful years past.
"This has been going on at the Gulf County Sheriff's office for quite some time now, it's my first year as sheriff and I'm glad to carry on the tradition," said Sheriff Harrison.
