Former Walton County Commissioner Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison on Child Pornography Charges

State Attorney Bill Eddins announced today that Judge Howard LaPorte sentenced Lane Rees to 10 years State Prison to be followed by 10 years Sexual Offender Probation.  The defendant was also designed as a Sexual Offender and will be required to register as a Sexual Offender and comply with all statutory requirements and restrictions.

Rees is a former Walton County Commissioner.

The defendant pled to one count of Promotion of Child Pornography and 28 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.  Rees was charged after an investigation revealed that he had sent electronic messages containing child pornography.  Numerous images were found on the computer that he admitted he had exclusive use of.

Both the investigation and arrest were conducted by the Walton County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Children's Advocacy Center.  Assistant State Attorney Christine Bosau prosecuted the case.  For further information, please contact her at 850-833-9237 ext. 225.
